In October I got to fly for the first time. It was such an awesome experience. I did get a little nervous when it came time to board, but then I was fine. I loved the adrenaline rush that take off and landing gave me. Yep. I'm an adrenaline junkie now. lol! :) Here are a few photos from our flight.

I'm so glad we were able to sit together.

Daytime flying. The clouds were gorgeous!

Nighttime flying. Seeing the stars so close was awesome!

The month of November has completely flown by! Kari and Malachi were able to come visit me for two weeks at the last of the month. I've had lots of do for school, but Ivy was nice enough to keep them during my class time. Thanks, Ivy! While they were here we made homemade ornaments and put the Christmas décor.

Painting fun!

Decorating the little tree

They did a great job!

They really loved decorating the little tree. They only got to help a little on the big tree so they made up for it on the little tree. :)

I'm hoping to buy some more ornaments this year so it will full of ornaments next year.

I also found a recipe for homemade bath fizzies. Kari and Malachi love taking bubble baths or using bath fizzies in the tub so we made some. They were really fun to make and the kids loved using them too.

Messy fun!

Cornstarch and water

They love doing anything that is messy so we had lots of fun with experimentive (I'm not sure that's a word) ideas. ;)

I'm starting in on the rest of my finals this week and then I will be so glad for a Christmas break! :)
Happy Holidays everyone!

Fallish....

Ohmy! How the time does fly. :( I can't believe summer is almost over and I am already 3 weeks into school. Hopefully, this will be my last year at BCTC and I will be graduating with my AA this December. Which means that in the Spring I will start attending EKU and working towards my major. Although the end is still far away, I'm glad to be seeing and feeling some progress.

So for a little recap of our summer:
The main event of my school breaks is that the kids (Kari & Malachi) come to KY and spend time with us. This summer they got to come three times and I know Ashley missed them, but I am so thankful that she lets them come stay with us.

Every time they come stay with us we have to have a trip to Mr. Gattis to eat pizza and play, go to the park to play and feed the ducks, visit other family members & friends, and shop. :) We just enjoy hanging out and have fun!

Cool Cat!

The pool was finally warm enough to take a few dips!

This summer we went to a pottery place here in town. Ivy and her kids met us there so that made it double fun! The kids got to pick out a piece of pottery and paint it. After they got done painting them Ms. Jaque  (the owner, who is an older lady) dipped and baked the pieces. We were able to go back and get them in one week. The kids loved it! They are already asking when they can do it again. While we were there Malachi wanted to sing Miss. Jaque a song. His big song at the time goes like this, "And if you don't think the old man can be alone and blue, let me tell you my friend, you got some thinking to do." Haha! We can give credit to his Pappy and Daddy for the lovely bluegrass. Miss. Jaque loved it and Malachi wanted to give her a kiss. I thought he would give her a peck on the cheek, but he laid her one full on the lips! :o (I don't know if told Ashley that part or not so shhhh!)

These were some big ducks!

The frog ride at Mr. Gatttis

I also took a little trip to stay with mom in AL for a week. Mom, the kids and I went to Noccalula Falls and enjoyed riding the train, looking at the old settlement, and petting/feeding the animals the petting zoo. What fun!

"Ya got any food?"

Another big hit (for me) was Chris' business trip to OH, PA, VA. Amish books have always been my favorite to read. I love Beverly Lewis books the best, but I read others as well. While we were in OH and PA we got to visit some Amish settlements and while we were in PA I got to visit the Amish places I read about in Beverly's books. I loved it! I have actually decided I wouldn't mind to move to those areas. ;) Keeping my modern conveniences of course!

I think a rich Amish family must live here...
A simple life....

We also got to make a very quick stop at Hershey, PA. It's was fun, but we were so rushed we couldn't enjoy it as much as we would have liked. I got some chocolate out of it so that made it worth it!

The smell was Heavenly!

We made a lil out-of-the-way detour to go to VA and see Washington DC. We parked as close to the White House which took may times circling and looking for a spot. We walked as close to the house as we could and while we were there the President's helicopter came and landed on the front lawn. I thought Mr. Obama was making a grand entrance, but we found out later it was just a practice drill being done by the pilot. We then walked to the monuments and memorials. It's was late in the evening when we got there so it was very dark and very late as we made our trek around town. My Mamaw has sternly told me that it was foolish and I live to dangerously. ;) Right Mamaw?

So as the close of summer approaches we look into Fall. I must admit I have not been in a very Fallish mood until this past weekend. However, when it did hit me, I wanted to do it all right then! I have very little to no patience. I have a few decorations that I bought on clearance last year out in the dining room and now I can't wait to finish it and tackle the rest of the house. I love some of the ideas on Pinterest. I can really get lost on that website. It's an obsession I do believe.

Falling in love with Fall!

Oh, I can't forget our anniversary! On September the 10th, Chris and I celebrated 9 years of marriage. I have been so blessed to have such a caring and kind man. Chris dotes on me and does everything he can to make me happy. No marriage is perfect, but I do believe ours is mighty close. ;)

A chocolate message

A special chocolate message from the team at the Melting Pot. :) I had a lot of fun eating their message.

Just us...

I will end this post with a quote I saw today that I loved.

Don't count the days, make the days count. :)

Have a great day!

Just a quick note to say I hope you all are enjoying your summer as much as I am! :)

I will try to update my blog soon. Things have been a little hectic and it seems like the blog is the first thing to be left undone.

Spring is here!

Happy 1st day of Spring!

I am very excited at the arrival of the season. :) I can't believe how much I am looking forward to warm days full of sunshine. I have always considered myself a kind of dark and dreary loving person. My mother can vouch for me. When I was younger and lived at  home, I liked my shades drawn down, the room dark and cool. I liked cloudy, sometimes even rainy days, better than I liked sunshine days. Well, not anymore. I am craving sunshine and warmth! Maybe this is something that happens as you get older, and wiser. ;))

Easter wreath I made

A little center piece I made

I am LOVING seasonal decor :)

As you can tell from the above pictures, I have really gotten into the season. I am usually one to only decorate for fall and Christmas.

I cannot even express how happy the oncoming green grass makes me. It is seriously crazy! I check outside everyday to see if the grass is more green, and if the flowers have grown since the previous day. I am so excited for when I am able to plant more flowers and even some trees. :)

Black bean burger

Tonight we had some very good black bean burgers for supper. It was a new recipe. I just love trying new foods. If you are interested, click here for the recipe. I have always liked veggie burgers, but I must say this one is my favorite thus far!

The pictures below are from another new recipe I found. This recipe is for homemade Muesli, which I found out was just a fancy word for cereal. ;) I luv luv luv it! It seriously feels you up, and if paired with a fruit, provides a very healthy breakfast. Now, I am not a health nut or anything, but I feel like if I keep making small changes in my eating, eventually I will have a whole new healthy eating habit.

Wild ingredients. I was lucky to have found them at Kroger and WalMart.

Put all ingredients into a canister.

Mix well.
Add milk and enjoy a healthy way to start your day. :)
Click here for the cereal recipe.

I hope y'all are as ready for Spring as I am. :)

God Bless,

Spring Break

I had the BEST Spring break that a girl could ask for!

My Cinderella niece, Kari, and Prince Charming nephew, Malachi, got to come to KY and stay with us for 9 days. :) I just love them!!! We always have the best time playing, eating things we shouldn't, and shopping.

I love pictures (as you can tell) and I hope you enjoy them too.

The kids and I fount an old abandoned train track to play on while Chris talked business with a client.

If you have never stopped at a place called Sweet Water Cheese factory in Philadelphia, TN, then you are missing out of some seriously awesome fresh cheese and as the kids say, "The bestest ice cream cone ever!"

We I decided that since we were coming through TN anyway, we might as well go a little further and take the kids to Pigeon Forge to ride the the go~carts. What fun!!! I couldn't find their coats so we bundled them up in their robes. Too cute, right?

We ate at Mellow Mushroom and Chris and the kids were NOT impressed! I liked it, but that's not surprising. I most generally like all things that are in the food category. ;)

Saturday we took the kids to the Creation Museum. We all LOVED it!!! It was so amazing to see the bible come to life.

The dinosaurs were a big hit with them.

Sunday we enjoyed the pretty weather at the park with our Church friends.

Monday was very rainy and nasty so spend most of the day indoors playing and doing crafts.

Tuesday we met Lashei, Latasha, and Jackson at the Kids Place in Lexington.

The kids and I went to the mall and actually ended up staying till it was closing time. :O

They certainly enjoyed helping me with supper Wednesday night. Fried chicken was a hit with them, and Chris.

Thursday night their Church buddy Trinity stayed all night with them. They had a blast being together again and playing. Trinity was pretending to be very sick and had to be prayed for by Doctor/Preacher, Kari.

Friday was spent at the "bonnet people place" (Amish) as Kari calls it. We love the general store and fount kites for the kids for only .75 each. That evening we went to the park and flew their kites. They turned out to be the best kites ever!

Saturday was a GORGEOUS day and we went to the park and played the morning away. We then came home and the kids played outside. They sure enjoyed the mud!

I had to bid farewell to my precious sweeties Saturday night after Church. :(  I hate goodbyes! The only thing that makes it better is all the precious memories I have stored away that I can reflect on whenever I need or want to. Life with these two kids is never boring, and I find myself smiling--sometimes with tears in my eyes-- at every thought of them. They are such a joy to have around. :)

I hope y'all enjoyed the post and pictures. I guess now I have no excuse for eating lots of pizza and ice cream. :/ It is back to the ol' diet for me.

I pray you all have a great week!
God Bless,
~Lacey
