Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!

I have enjoyed seeing all the posts on FB and IG about not forgetting what Memorial Day is really about. I have a sweet old veteran that comes through drive-thru at work every Wednesday. I've gotten close to him over the years and even went to visit his church a couple months ago. Being around and talking to him has allowed me to see the hurt and neglected feeling that many of our veterans face as they get older. I love to spoil him every chance I get. :) So today I want to say thank you to "Sarge" for all he's sacrificed for me and our land of liberty.

Today and everyday, I am thankful for my sweet family. Although the tease me endlessly I know they are there for me anytime I need them. I have been blessed with more than I deserve. I'm so glad I have special people to share my life with.

This day has been a good and restful day for us. We enjoyed a lil cookout with mom and dad. Chris grilled steaks, dad grilled veggies, and I made cauliflower mashed potatoes. There's nothing quiet like the taste of a good grilled piece of meat!

YUMM!

Beautiful blooms from my rose bush and peonies.

Delisha and low carb...can't beat that!

I'm also thankful for this beautiful place I live. It's called Kentucky and God sure knew what he was doing when he created this beautiful paradise. ;) Chris and I took an evening drive and just soaked in all the beauty and tranquility.

All this beauty of course called for a mini photo session. :)

Hope you all have had a great Memorial Day!

Weekend Getaway

Last weekend the hubs and I snuck away to TN for a little time together. :) It's always nice to getaway from everything on the home front for a little bit and just enjoy each other's company.

The main thing I wanted to do while we were in TN was to go to Cades Cove. I love driving around and looking for deer and especially bears.

I just love these country lanes and views.

We got all the way to the half point and still hadn't seen any bears. I was determined to drive around all day if that's what it took to find a bear. Thankfully as we turned the next curve we saw lots of cars pulled over and people out with cameras. It was a momma bear and two cubs. We didn't get close enough to get good pics, but looking through the binoculars gave us a good view. The cubs were adorable and so playful. :)))

I am so glad we got to see the bears! That was the highlight of our Cades Cove trip this time. We had an enjoyable time together and had fun. Isn't that what living is all about? Spending time with the ones you love! I'm so thankful to have a sweet husband who spoils me. ;)
